5.39 Lakh Houses for Urban Poor in Andhra Pradesh Under PMAY in Next 15 Months

The state government of Andhra Pradesh is planning to construct 5.39 lakh new houses for Urban Poor across the state within next 15 months under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). PMAY – Urban is a flagship housing scheme of central government which aims to provide housing to every urban poor by the year 2022.

According to census 2011, Andhra Pradesh is 10th largest state in the country in terms of population. Total population of the state is around 50 million as per the census. Andhra Pradesh has been sanctioned the highest number of houses by central government under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) so far.

According to official notification, appropriate time has been given for identifying technology for construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in Andhra Pradesh. State govt. will provide subsidy to each beneficiary for the houses which will be owned by female head of the family or jointly with the male.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban)

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana was launched in 2015 to provide a shelter to all homeless citizens with the help of states and UT’s by the year 2022. This scheme will target poor households and people belonging to economic weaker section across the country.

The government is providing subsidy to economically weaker section (EWS) for the purchase of Eco-friendly houses for their family under the scheme.
