Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana after country wide launch on 1st May have seen regional launched in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand & Uttar Pradesh. The scheme is now set to be launched in Odisha today.
Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram and Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan are scheduled to flag the Ujjwala Yojana off today from Sambalpur.
Ujjala Yojana in Odisha is expected to increase the number of LPG subscribers to 80 lakh by December 2018 from existing 39 Lakh.
Under the Ujjwala Yojana, the central government will provide free LPG connection to the women belonging to the BPL families in the sate. A financial assistance of Rs. 1600/- per connection per household will be provided under the scheme.
The central government has set a budget of Rs. 8000 Crores for the implementation of the scheme and distribute LPG connections to 5 Crore households in next 3 years.
